SEO is like a game of poker.

It’s all about playing your cards right while keeping an eye on your rivals.

If you’re not raking in the chips, it might be time to take a closer look at Google’s SGE.

The million-dollar question on every website owner’s lips is: “Is this SGE stuff about to gobble up my website traffic?”

It’s a fair question, but before we panic, let’s break it down.

When you first look at AI snapshots, it can seem like your website is being shoved to the sidelines while others take center stage.

But don’t write off your traffic just yet.

Even in an AI-dominated world, your website can still pull in visitors, and here’s why:

1. Generative AI is only as good as its teachers.

AI needs content to learn from. If websites stop pumping out content because of dwindling traffic, what will our AI overlords have to learn from?

2. Google knows the power of the human touch.

There’s something about human-authored content that resonates with readers, especially when it comes to making purchase decisions.

It’s all part of Google’s E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) search quality guidelines.

Would you really let an AI decide whether your family holiday will be sushi in Tokyo or croissants in Paris?

3. Google has a vested interest in keeping websites in the game.

In 2022, Google pocketed a cool $162.45 billion from ads, which made up 58.1% of their total revenue.

Businesses are paying big bucks to keep their websites at the top of Google’s search results. They’re not going to shell out for a spot below the AI answers. Plus, an extra 11% of Google’s revenue ($32.7 billion) comes from Google Display Network ads.

If high-traffic websites like Forbes start losing visitors, Google’s ad revenue could take a hit.
